The Jirapa Municipal Police Command has received ten (10) motorbikes and a pick-up vehicle from the government.
The donation forms part of government’s agenda to retool the police service to enable it carry out its duties of protecting lives and property.
Speaking at a brief ceremony at the forecourt of the Jirapa Municipal Assembly, the Municipal Police Commander, ASP Bright Acquah mentioned that the municipal police command received about thirty (30) new police officers including the logistics to help in fighting crime.
He says that “initially we were not having the means so yesterday they called me to come for our car as well as ten (10) motorbikes for the start”.
“We are yet to receive their weapons, their bulletproof. In the municipality here we have three (3) locations, we have the Duori base, Kuncheni base and then the FPU base. So these are the men and the women posted to us to start with the FPU program”, he added.
Lawyer Nicholas Soyiri, the Jirapa Municipal Chief Executive admonished the police officers to work according to the principles of the police service.
“I would urge you to work diligently and work according to the principles of the police service. The government of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo is doing all its best to tool the police service with the necessary equipment needed.”
Lawyer Soyiri advised the police to use the logistics to work diligently and abide strictly by the principles of the service.
According to him the logistics would go along way to help the Jirapa Municipality.
“I’ve heard some politicians wanting to claim that they have brought you here, but I want you to know that in the Municipality here I’m the Chairman of MUSEC and all security agencies are under my domain. No other politician can stand any where and claim that he knows the operations of the police or any security agency in the municipality more than I do”.
