A renowned Lawyer who has just been elevated to the supreme Court pending parliamentary approval, also a native of Issa in the Daffiama Bussie Issa district of the Upper West Region, Lawyer Yonny Kulendi through his law firm Kulendi@law and Scanport limited donated Personal Protective Equipments costing about GH¢120,000.00 to the region to support the fight against Coronavirus.
The items were shared among some health facilities in the Daffiama Bussie Issa district and the regional hospital took its share of the PPEs as it serves as the referral center for the other facilities. This was done on Wednesday April 1, 2020 at the forecourt of the Regional Coordinating Council.
Upper West Regional Minister, Hon. Hafiz Bin Salih who received the PPEs on behalf of the region expressed his gratitude to the lawyer for the gesture promising that, his outfit was going to ensure that the items are put into judicious use.
Meanwhile, Hon. Imoro Nadi Sanda, District Chief Executive for the Daffiama Bussie Issa district who received his share of the items on behalf of DBI appreciated the good works of the Lawyer Kulendi and could not hide his happiness by stating that, the son of the soil has been of great help to the district stressing that Mr. Kulendi erected an Out Patient Department for the Issa District Hospital and again donated computers to the Ghana Education Service in the district.
He promised the resources given them were going to be used for the purposes of which they were acquired. Hon. Sanda was quick to add that, fighting the deadly novel coronavirus in DBI was like fighting it everywhere and supported his statement by stating that the virus reportedly started somewhere and has since spread to the entire world devouring thousands of people.
However, one sixth of the items as directed by the donor were presented to the Upper West Regional Health Director who also handed them over to the medical director of the Regional Hospital that serves as a referral center for all other health facilities in the region.
Dr. Osei Kufour Afreh, Regional Health Director for Upper West also expressed his serenity to the donor adding that the items came at the right time and promised his outfit will supervise and ensure that the PPEs are put into good use. He also used the opportunity and appealed to stakeholders and all sons of the region who are endowed with resources to come to the aid of the region in this trying time.
The items donated to the region by Lawyer Yonny Kulendi comprised 3 packets of tissue rolls, 14 packets of toilet tissue, 45kg net weight of chlorine, 2 pieces of non contact infrared thermometer, 10 packets of face masks, 11 packets of head cover, 13 packets of foot cover, 32 packets of hand glove, 7 gallons of liquid soap as well as 7 gallons of hand sanitizers, 8 pieces of overcoat and 8 packets of apron.
