A motor mechanic from Konkuo a suburb of Jirapa in the Upper West Region has been shot dead.

The Jirapa Municipal Police Command has arrested one person in connection with the murder.

The deceased, Morris Puorizuma is said to be in his early 20’s was found dead with gun-shot wounds in the early hours of Saturday, May 20, 2023 at Mile 7 a suburb of Jirapa.

Mavis Puorizuma, mother of the victim told Jirapa Fm reporters that she met the lifeless body of her son on her way to work on the Saturday morning.

“I was going to work when I met him lying on the floor and I called him but he did not respond. I touched him and realized that he was not breathing. I started crying whiles calling for help from the people around the area. I asked them to help me take my son away from the sun but they all refused to help me. I’m saddened by the death of my son”.

The assemblyman for Konkuo, Anlieramwini Evans appealed to the police to investigate the murder of Morris Puorizuma and bring the murderers to justice.

One person has been arrested by the police after preliminary investigation. Two guns were retrieved from the suspect.

The police also discovered two goats tied in an uncompleted building close to the murder scene.

The body of the deceased was sent to the St Joseph Hospital and was later released to the family for burial.
