The Member of Parliament for Wa Central Constituency, Dr.  Rashid Pelpuo is demanding on  the Ministry of Health to urgently tackle the Cerebrospinal Meningitis (CSM) which is causing deaths in the Upper West Region.

Speaking on the floor of parliament today, Dr. Rashid Pelpuo drew the attention of the Ministry of Health on the challenges posed by CSM in the region

“I seek to draw the attention of the Ministry of Health, the challenges posed by this equally debilitating  and deadly infectious disease in the Wa Central and the Upper West Region as a whole.”

The Member of Parliament called on the Ministry of Health and the Government to act with dispatch in providing essential drugs and appropriate personnel to tackle the disease

He noted that the situation is crucial because CSM is a very infectious disease but may be glossed over by both authorities and the people

On Friday, the Upper West Regional Health Directorate reported that the region had recorded 214 Meningitis cases with 33 deaths in the last three months
